A selection from yesterdays races. Sun and snow coming down. It started off not good, as my camera didn´t expose more then one image at the time. After some time of intense problem solving I managed to get it working as I would like it to. There are so many things to choose when you are setting up an advanced digital camera. It ended up OK after all, and once again I learned about preparations. Especially with a new camera. You are never too old to learn…
When I go to a horse race to photograph I make no promises. Not to me or anyone else. No promises that my images should be sharp, show what horse or jockey, or anything. I go there with total freedom for creating and I don´t listen to nobody. Surprise me! That is all that I say to myself. Because of that I don´t really know until afterwards in the studio what I brought back. Is it useful and did I surprise myself. Do I like it? At the bottom I have included two of my friends and colleagues. Wolfram and Elina.See you on Sunday again.
Only two images are cropped…
This is a small selection from yesterdays 979 exposures. The one at the top is my favorite.
After a long absence from the race track, I was back yesterday at Bro Park to photograph horse racing again. This is not Abu Dhabi or some other warm place, this is Sweden in the middle of our winter. Degrees below zero and freezing cold for the jockeys. Imagine sitting on a horse in full speed with as light gear and clothes as possible. What the horses think I don´t know. Here is my collection of images from yesterdays competitions.
It´s been some time since I visited a horse race. However, yesterday I went back to Täby Galopp. The track is old and it will soon be closed down and replaced by a new one. At Bro. A place also just outside Stockholm, but in another direction from Täby. It will be interesting to see how the races will develop there. Täby is like Venedig. Beautiful in its decline. Lots of patina that attract us photographers.
A rest for eyes and mind was healthy. Time to refocus and find new details and ways to capture my images. But of course I recognize all the events. I get good exercise since I am not always standing at the goal waiting for a winner. That is what many of my friends and colleagues have to do. It is their job to catch the winner. And after that the winning horse, jockey and owner. Instead I can concentrate on investigating other parts of the race with all preparations and other post race activities.
Here is a selection from yesterday, enjoy! 😊 Pelle
