Horses and jockeys, off course. But there would be no races without starters. They assist the jockeys in loading the horses into the boxes and they help calming some nervous horses. Here are e few images from yesterdays races, and some of the starters at Bro Park. It is always such an inspiration to go there.
If I shoot 24×36, 6×6, 4×5″ or any other format, 9 times out of 10 I compose and fill the full frame. Just a way I started many years ago and just a way I still work.

The first Lady Jockeys’ Thoroughbred World Championship was held at Bro Park yesterday evening, on the 4th of July. Exciting! We had a french winner, Maryline Eon. One more competition before making choices and printing for The Derby at Jägersro.
Here is my selection of images from the event. It happened to be many telling eyes.
Yesterday the 6/6 was our national holiday here in Sweden with the annual horse racing at Gärdet, Nationaldagsgaloppen. The sun was shining and people came with blankets, picnic and wine. Or just water. It was a warm and hot day. I think the jockeys enjoyed themselves competing much closer to their audience and fans. There are not so many races on grass, so I like this, and dirt track is mostly not enough dirty …
A selection from yesterdays races. Sun and snow coming down. It started off not good, as my camera didn´t expose more then one image at the time. After some time of intense problem solving I managed to get it working as I would like it to. There are so many things to choose when you are setting up an advanced digital camera. It ended up OK after all, and once again I learned about preparations. Especially with a new camera. You are never too old to learn…
-and I will be exhibiting.
Welcome to Jägersro the 16th of July. Jägersro is the race track for horse racing in Malmö. I am especially happy for this since my interest for the sport started just here one year ago. I have made a selection from my horse racing images and they will be exhibited on prints in size 70×100 cm..
Last Sunday was the long awaited grand opening of Bro Park. The new race horse track in the Stockholm area. The weather was fine and so the spectators. Many dressed up for the occasion and the competition for the best dress, and hat of course. All as it should be on a day like this in this sport. After going through about 32 GB of images I have come up with this small selection. As always I am walking around in my own little world of details, color and speed. Just as the jockeys I am now looking forward to learning the new track. Different corners and where and when the light is best here, and there.
Note: The happiest winner was an American, Chantal, with her arms up in the sky. The Swedes just won without visual signs. But with a smile afterwards, of course.
😀🏇🏽😀
No grand opening is complete without music. The dirt track wasn´t too dirty this day.
Yesterday was national holiday in Sweden and the annual horse race at Gärdet. A huge recreation field here in Stockholm. The track that is rebuilt every year at this place is not flat as most other tracks. I think that the jockeys like it. The weather was sunny and there was a huge audience that were allowed in for free. Here is my selection from my 1148 exposures.
😀 Pelle
Also some of the horses were dressed for the ocation
