Being a photographer is the best, and most inspiring, job I can think of ever having. I am a professional photographer. Very much a food photographer, working with the Swedish Culinary Teams. Seniors and Juniors. Among many nice clients. Until today I have photographed 16 cook books. Many awarded. Photography is not only my profession, it is also my passion.

Testing! One, two, three

I am not much interested in writing about technique, but this time I will. But I will keep it short! Yesterday at the races I tested an interesting lens. Canon zoom f100-400, 4,5-5,6. But as I guess that you noted you couldn´t tell if it was sharp or not in those images. Well, this isn´t much better since these images are 72 dpi and small. But anyway, Hemingway… The type of image is totally different.

Test_MG_0935 Test_MG_0934Todays use are all handheld with IS at no 1. Yesterday I didn´t use Image Stabilsation, IS, at all.

I just went on a small walk close to our summerhouse since I think testcharts are SO boring. Useful of course but boring. I will happily let other people photograph those.

Test_MG_0946 Test_MG_0936I am not a birdwatcher but there they were. And I came so close. The camera is a EOS 1D Mk lV, so f 400 is really f 520. The close range i suberb! I like it very much and I think that if you are looking for this focal range this is a very good buy.

The race is on

Yesterday I made another attempt to cover a horserace at Täby Galopp. The weather was fine and the whole evening was great with many interesting horse events. Like barrel racing and shooting with a bow and arow from horseback. However I concentrated on the traditional races. Trying to capture the speed and color of the event. Easy, NO! Difficult to chose the right images that I think are the best. I´ll keep on experimenting, and I will see what will come out of it.

Well, I did it my way!

So what would life be without photographers and photography? Boring don´t you think?

Illusion

This is a picture of a picture from Huseby Slott ( castle ) from earlier this summer. Where the different images start, or end, is not really clear. But, why should it be? Go there if you are around. You will find more info through the link, however only in swedish. But I am sure that you get the picture.

vintage photo mystery

Amazingly beautiful images, but who made them? I hope we will find out. Read the full story with the link to BBC below.

A US photographer has launched an internet hunt to find two mysterious women pictured on an old roll of film she discovered in a second-hand shop.

Meagan Abell was sifting through a box of vintage photographs in Richmond, Virginia when she found four sets of “transparency slides”.

She took them home to scan them and was “shocked” at the level of detail.

“I thought ‘holy wow they are beautiful’. I’d love to find the women or the photographer who took them.”

The impact of photography.

I saw this on the BBC News App and thought you should see it:
Ten steps to improve your photography
Lecturer Grant Scott offers advice on how to use your interests to produce better pictures.

” Every decision you make in your life from what you wear, what you eat, how you vote, how you decorate your home, where you visit, what you listen to, what you watch and what you believe are influenced by professional photography and professional photographers. They don’t just shoot weddings.”

Another day at the races

Today I got another opportunity to photograph more horse racing. I had a great time! This time at Täby Galopp just outside Stockholm. It will be interesting to see how I can develope this series.

Only 6 Days left!!!

Dear Melissa, Being a photographer is the best profession I could think of, and I understand that it is the same for you. However these days it is so much more difficult to live on it. The competition is harder and often the clients set the levels for what they are prepared to pay. Often on terms I am not so shure that I agree with. Being with a gallery might be different, perhaps. I am not so shure. But still I would not change my days for anything. I am sorry that I can´t fund your future but I sincerely wish you all the luck with your choice. It is the best.
If you are able to donate Melssa a sum please do. I know she would be very thankful and happy. 😊 Pelle
