Dear friends. I am happy to announce that I have just returned from Yantai in China and the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards. In the category Best Cookbook Photography I received a worldwide first price. I am very happy and honored. In photography and music, among many other subjects, it is very difficult, if possible, to find winners. Because of that I am especially honored and thankful for the best award that I have ever received. .

The other day I went to Old Town here in Stockholm. Already filled with lots of tourists. A great place to be. Many cafΓ©s and restaurants. Galleries and shops. I went there to test a favorite lens. A TS 45 mm. I like the way I can handle it. Like how I work with my Sinar viewΒ camera. Though it is so much smaller and comfortable to bring a SLR on a walk. This is how my images looks like. π If you get a chance, visit our Old Town! You donΒ΄t have to walk among all the tourist shops. There are small adventures on every narrow side street. Perhaps you, as I did, just can stumble upon a small concert in a church.
I see mostly the same jockeys and the same horses, but it is never ever the same. The weather changes, and my angles. And everything else. Some of my images are not about racing but still lifes/details from the horses or jockeys. It is a colorful and very exciting sport! The owners and trainers often pimp their racing darlings. They do, and once again I wish I had all the time in the world just going around enjoying exhibitions. Together with Avedon and Albert Watson he is one of my absolute favorite photographers. Over the years I have got so much inspiration from his work. The frozen fruits, cigarette butts, flowers, the backdrops and SO MUCH more. Recently we have been fortunate here in Stockholm to see his work at Γ mells. What more could a photographer my age ask for? πΒ Pelle

A selection from yesterdays races. Sun and snow coming down. It started off not good, as my camera didnΒ΄t expose more then one image at the time. After some time of intense problem solving I managed to get it working as I would like it to. There are so many things to choose when you are setting up an advanced digital camera. It ended up OK after all, and once again I learned about preparations. Especially with a new camera.Β You are never too old to learn…

When I go to a horse race to photograph I make no promises. Not to me or anyone else. No promises that my images should be sharp, show what horse or jockey, or anything. I go there with total freedom for creating and I donΒ΄tΒ listen to nobody. Surprise me! That is all that I say to myself. Because of that I donΒ΄t really know until afterwards in the studio what I brought back. Is it useful and did I surprise myself. Do I like it?
